Tuesday was the big day for Everton, the day when they finally announced the signing of Amadou Onana from Lille.
Despite the player hardly being a regular under Jocelyn Gourvennec last season, the defensive midfielder impressed enough for the Toffees to decide to spend around €40m on his services.
Whether he lives up to them will now come down to Onana and Frank Lampard, but Lille can once again boast a good sale, turning a profit of around €30m in the space of a season.
However, not all of that money from Everton will go into their bank account, as Kicker point out that Hamburger SV in Germany, whom the Ligue 1 side bought the midfielder from last year, will get a chunk of it.
This is seen as a very healthy amount for a 2.Bundesliga club, who could also make some money from the Eintracht Frankfurt’s potential sale of Filip Kostic to Juventus.
While not all of this money will be able to go on transfers, it’s believed that ‘at least €2.5m will be made available’ by the board, with winger Jean-Luc Dompé at the top of their wishlist.
