West Ham United’s Gianluca Scamacca is the ‘right name’ for AC Milan to bolster their strike force next season, according to MilanLive.it.

Divock Origi and Ante Rebić struggling this season has seen Stefano Pioli rely heavily upon Olivier Giroud. The Serie A side need to find a replacement for the 36-year-old, especially since the manager isn’t convinced with the former two.

This is where the West Ham player fits in and he’s always been liked by the Rossoneri chiefs, Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara.

The Italy international joined the Hammers last summer and has struggled in his debut season in London. David Moyes has left him on the bench for the last four league games and stressed he needs greater commitment from the 24-year-old.

MilanLive.it state Moyes’ comments indicate a ‘certain dissatisfaction’ towards Scamacca, who could also be unhappy with his current state of affairs. Due to this, a transfer scenario could open up for him in the summer.

If the player’s situation doesn’t improve before the end of this season, West Ham would be ready to sell him. The Premier League side are unlikely to recover most of the €40m they invested in signing him.

Therefore, the Hammers could also let Scamacca leave on loan with an option to buy. As per the report, this is something Milan would ‘certainly take into consideration’. The ex-Sassuolo man, meanwhile, also has a ‘goal’ to return to Italy after this season.

These factors could favour Milan in securing his services in the summer.
