On Saturday, we covered claims made in Spain that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is open to joining Chelsea and Barcelona are waiting for the west London club to make an offer for him.

Sunday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo states the forward’s case is complex and there will not be an imminent resolution.

The La Liga side are aware Chelsea want the 33-year-old and despite the tension between the two clubs, they are forced to understand each other. The player’s exit is needed for Barca to carry out Marcos Alonso’s signing.

Another Catalan newspaper, Sport, has a report titled: ‘Aubameyang gives the OK to Chelsea’s offer’.

The Gabon international was reluctant to leave the Camp Nou, but his substitution against Rayo Vallecano raised doubts in him and his entourage. The Blues offer, which includes a three-year contract plus a salary raise, has seen him give his approval to the move.

Chelsea have gone all out and Thomas Tuchel’s involvement in the negotiations has been ‘key’ in overcoming the player’s doubts about moving to Stamford Bridge.

The report states ‘the appearance of Chelsea, with an irrevocable contract, may cause Aubameyang to pack his bags unexpectedly’.

It’s down to the two clubs to agree a deal, which won’t be easy because, Barcelona, for now, don’t accept.

Another report from Sport explains that Chelsea offered €19m plus Alonso in exchange for Aubameyang. The west London club value the left-back at €11m, which isn’t accepted by Barcelona.

Barca had initially agreed a separate deal with Tuchel’s side for the Spaniard, which was for less than €11m.

Xavi Hernández’s side are demanding Chelsea respect what was agreed for Alonso earlier and then ‘raise the offer for Aubameyang in cash’.

It needs to be seen who will give in first. Sport explain the clubs are ‘condemned to understand each other, but points remain to be resolved’.
