The Italian media continues to be quite surprised with Dusan Vlahovic’s start to the season, as the striker has four goals and one assist in four appearances for Juventus so far.

As we all remember, Chelsea had been heavily linked to the striker this summer, and that’s what Calcio Mercato writes about today.

The outlet features a story claiming ‘Juve thanks Chelsea’ for not being willing to pay the high transfer fee requested.

The story writes that the Old Lady had been ‘rightly’ demanding €40m for Vlahovic, added to the transfer of Romelu Lukaku, and the Blues ‘didn’t feel like investing so much’ on a player who had a groin injury.

Calcio Mercato says that ‘fortunately’ that was the end outcome, because despite a slow start at Juventus, the Serbian has now managed to show his best in the first appearances this season.

Now, how long will that last? It’s hard to say because, just today, we had also covered reports from Italy which claimed the Bianconeri could face an auction for Vlahovic very soon.

Chelsea continue to be mentioned as the main suitors for his signing and are expected to return, although it’s clear that his form will only push his price up.
