Bayern Munich have ‘suddenly blocked all questions’ regarding Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha as they look to avoid making any suggestions regarding a potential move in January.

That’s according to SportBILD, who say the German club are playing it cool on the midfielder after he ‘completely unexpectedly’ signed a deal at Fulham.

Palhinha was on the verge of a move to Bayern at the end of the summer transfer window but saw the move collapse at the last minute after Fulham refused to send the paperwork as they had failed to sign a replacement.

The belief was that Bayern would return in the January transfer window but that was thrown into doubt when Fulham announced a surprise new contract for their star midfielder.

That certainly shocked those in charge at Bayern and they’ve now blocked all questions on the matter, with Thomas Tuchel even refusing to be drawn on the matter.

Those in charge at the Allianz Arena seem to be ‘deliberately leaving out the opportunity’ to send Palhinha a public signal about a possible move in January.

In other words, Bayern seem to want to avoid making any comments that could be misconstrued and lead to issues down the line.

That’s because the surprise contract has not made signing Palhinha any easier, although BILD reports that a winter change is still not completely off the table.

The player remains the ‘desired solution’ for Tuchel for the holding six position in his squad and Palhinha can easily imagine making the move. Indeed, he considers it a dream destination and is honoured by the interest.

Therefore a deal is still possible but it will remain in Fulham’s hands, as they need to be ‘willing to talk about a suitable offer’ for anything to happen.
