With all the rumours surrounding Arsenal being interested in left-backs, Nuno Tavares’ future at the Emirates is currently up in the air.

The player was wanted by Atalanta for a while, but then came reports that the Gunners’ demands for a transfer were rather pricey.

We then saw Marseille thrown into the mix, as the Sead Kolasinac experiment didn’t work how they wanted it to, meaning a new defender is needed.

The Arsenal man was seen as an option to bring in on loan, with hope that a similar deal to the one struck with the Gunners for William Saliba could suit both parties.

After all, the centre-back had a season to remember in the south of France last year, and the two clubs are on good terms.

That’s why La Provence are reporting that Tavares is ‘the option on the left’ for the Ligue 1 side, and while they can’t confirm the Portuguese defender was behind a trip by Pablo Longoria to London, the Marseille chief did ‘recently’ travel to the capital for business.

Something to keep an eye on, as Arsenal could be in the business of loaning him in hope he evolves just like Saliba did.
