Since the English media claimed that David Luiz will leave Arsenal at the end of the season, several clubs from abroad have been linked to the defender.

And now that Gunners’ manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the 34-year-old’s departure, it’s time for the race for his signing to get a lot more serious.

The latest updates are now coming from Argentina, where they say the Brazilian side Flamengo are interested in David Luiz.

TyC Sports writes that the Rio de Janeiro side ‘started talks’ with the defender to have him as a ‘luxury reinforcement’ for the knock-out stage of Copa Libertadores this year.

Following Arteta’s quotes, the report writes that David Luiz’s departure from the Emirates Stadium is now ‘imminent’, and the end of the player’s contract this summer means he’ll be able to move for free.

TyC Sports adds that the likes of São Paulo and Atletico Mineiro are other Brazilian sides who’d like to sign the defender, with these clubs also named in a story from journalist Jorge Nicola earlier this week.
