Valencia are ready to ‘play their cards right’ this summer as they look to keep Bryan Gil at the club from Tottenham.

That’s according to Super Deporte, who say the Spanish side assume keeping the Spaniard will be ‘difficult’ but have tricks to play to get their man.

Gil joined them on loan from Tottenham in the January transfer window, seeking out the regular game time that hadn’t been on offer under Antonio Conte or Nuno Espirito Santo.

He’s gotten what he was looking for, establishing himself as a key player under Jose Bordalas with a series of impressive performances.

They are keen to keep him, and Bordalas has made it clear in public that the player would be more than welcome to stay next season if that is possible.

Super Deporte say Valencia know that will be ‘difficult’, particularly as the current loan deal doesn’t include a purchase option, but they will ‘play their cards right’ to get him regardless.

The most important factor is the player, and the ‘motivations are not lacking’ for him to continue at Valencia for a second year.

Being the ‘protagonist on the pitch’, having the confidence of Bordalas, the ‘respect of the dressing room’, and affection of the crowd in the Mestalla are all big factors for a player who was getting none of that at Tottenham.

Furthermore, all of those things will give him a greater chance at being in Spain’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar, with his performances having already put him on the brink of making a return to Luis Enrique’s squad.

His increased chances of going to Qatar, courtesy of him shining in Spain, are ‘Valencia’s small trump card’ in the fight with Tottenham to keep him next season.

Gil himself is already ‘clear’ that if he remains in Valencia, his chances of going to the World Cup ‘will be a little easier’, another plus point for the Spanish side’s hopes of keeping him. Tottenham
