Earlier this week, reports from Brazil claimed that Nottingham Forest midfielder Gustavo Scarpa could soon head back to his home country.

The player is supposed to be on loan at Olympiacos until next summer, but it was said he could make a return to Palmeiras in the January transfer window.

Even though the news got big coverage in Brazil, we now see UOL journalist Flavio Latif (via Verdão Infos) saying the move is actually unlikely.

The reporter claims that Palmeiras have no intention of signing Scarpa from Nottingham Forest at this moment.

The Brazilian club lost Scarpa for free in December. Even though he was happy there and received a huge offer for a contract renewal, he wanted to give it a shot in European football.

Due to injuries and personal issues, the midfielder ended up only making ten appearances for Nottingham Forest in his first months at the club.

In the summer, the club decided he’d be loaned out to Olympiacos, where he has five appearances so far. His contract with the Tricky Trees runs until 2026.
