With neither Olivier Giroud nor Zlatan Ibrahimovic getting any younger, Milan need to start planning for the future when it comes to their striker position.

While the Frenchman is still influential at the highest level, his contract at San Siro expires next summer, which is why the Serie A side are keeping an eye on Armando Broja’s situation.

The Chelsea goalscorer is someone who has been on their radar for quite some time, and the interest is nothing new, but he appears to be climbing up the list of important targets for them.

Loaned to Southampton last year, the Albania international impressed with the Saints, and some believed he would be used more than he has by the Blues this season.

Thomas Tuchel never appeared to fully trust him, which is why Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was bought from Barcelona, but it remains to be seen what Graham Potter now has planned for Broja at Stamford Bridge.

He could grow and become the threat many expect him to be in the coming months, or he could continue to be used as a rotation option for the remainder of the season.

If the latter were to take place, then Milan could have an opening to get a deal done with Chelsea, as they have ‘clear ideas for the future’, which include buying a number nine for their 2023-24 season, according to Calciomercato.

They already know that they ‘will not have €60-70m available to invest just for one player’, meaning the arrival of a big name is already written off.

That’s why ‘young prospective profiles will be evaluated on the market’, among which can be found Chelsea’s Broja.

While he is not a ‘goal machine’, as they put it, his ‘technical qualities and physical structure’ means that he ‘fits perfectly with Milan’s football philosophy’.

As things stand, ‘there is nothing more than a simple interest’, but ‘it cannot be ruled out that it could become something more in the coming months’.

It’s often pointed out that Chelsea’s relationship with Milan is ‘excellent’ following multiple successful deals, and even though Broja is contracted to Stamford Bridge until 2028, he remains ‘transferable’.

As for the price, the valuation ‘is around €30m’.
