Barcelona remain interested in Eric García and over the weekend, Mundo Deportivo reported the La Liga side will ‘fight until the end’ in their efforts to sign the Manchester City player.

The defender is in his final year of contract and has already confirmed his decision not to renew.

Mundo Deportivo explains the 19-year-old wants to return to the Camp Nou, the Blaugrana want to sign him and the Citizens are ready to let him leave, but not for the fee offered by Barca.

City have already rejected the Catalan club’s initial offer of around €10m for the Spain international.

According to RAC1, Ronald Koeman’s side have tabled a ‘new proposal’ in the last few hours. The proposal will have a lower fixed fee (€5m) plus high variables (€10m).

Mundo explains the bonuses are easy to achieve if García ends up featuring regularly for Barca.

However, Pep Guardiola’s side find the ‘new proposal’ made by Barca ‘insufficient’ and continue to ask for a similar fee (€25m) to what they paid for Ferran Torres.

City’s reluctance to reduce their demands will force Barcelona to wait until January, either to sign him on a lower fee or agree a pre-contract.
