Despite being a regular starter at Arsenal and one of the most used players in the Premier League by Mikel Arteta, the idea that William Saliba could leave the club refuses to go away.

The centre-back returned from a loan spell at Marseille far more developed, and convinced his manager enough to give him a chance as a first-team member for the Gunners.

He hasn’t looked back since, forming a great partnership at the heart of the Arsenal defence with Gabriel Magalhães, with the club currently top of the Premier League, five points ahead of Manchester City.

And yet, there continues to be stories written about Paris Saint-Germain looking at him, with Media Foot continuing this on Thursday evening.

The French website, as an exclusive, state the Ligue 1 side ‘keep on maintaining contact with the player’s representatives’ regarding a potential move next summer.

For now, though, Saliba is ‘aspiring to finish a great season’ with Arsenal in the Premier League, but his lack of game time at the World Cup has led him to ‘consider all possibilities going forward’.

Among those, ‘in the corner of his mind’, he allegedly ‘knows that returning to France’ could ‘allow him to optimise his chances of playing in the next Euros’ and becoming a regular with the national team.

Still, it is made clear that any transfer of the Arsenal would be ‘difficult’ as Arteta ‘appreciates him more and more’, and Paris Saint-Germain ‘don’t have the means to do crazy deals’.

It’s also mentioned that Saliba would be a homegrown option for the French club, but that would still require them to buy him, which isn’t exactly a guarantee.
