The ‘chaos’ at Chelsea has reopened the door for Juventus to make a move for Jorginho and Emerson Palmieri this summer.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who say the midfielder ‘can leave’ Stamford Bridge as his contract is set to expire in 2023.
The newspaper states that the issue around Roman Abramovich and the sanctions imposed on him ‘breaks into the market’.
At this moment in time, it’s said the Blues cannot sanction outgoing sales, but Juventus are looking at the situation ‘with interest’ as that can change should Abramovich be allowed to sell.
Juve chief Federico Cherubini, therefore, has his eye on Jorginho and Emerson, both of whom would cover pressing issues in the current Juventus squad.
Jorginho is an ‘old favourite’ at the club after being recommended by former manager Maurizio Sarri and, with his contract expiring next year, there is a feeling his €45m asking price can be brought down.
There is also the matter of the Growth Decree, with allows the salary to be taxed at 50%, meaning Juventus could afford his €6.8m a year pay packet.
The interest is certainly there, particularly as Jorginho is seen as the player who would ‘complete’ the midfield department.
Palmieri, meanwhile, is another long-term target for the club and one that they’ve never taken their eye off of down the years.
He is ‘no longer at Chelsea’ but belongs to them, which means he’s currently on loan at Lyon but does not have a future in London.
The move to France has seen him ‘regenerating’ into the player many thought he could be, and Juventus are keen to give him the option of continuing that in Italy.
There is no mention of an asking price when it comes to him, nor what his wage demands would be, but they’re likely more easily negotiated than those around Jorginho.
Either way, both potential moves depend on Chelsea being allowed to sell players this summer.
