Even though Darwin Nunez has become one of the most obvious targets in the 2022 summer market, with several European giants interested in his signing, it seems Benfica would have no problem keeping him for another season.

Newspaper Correio da Manhã today writes that president Rui Costa ‘admits’ keeping the striker at the club is a possibility, in case they don’t receive any convincing bids in this transfer window.

Manchester United are once again named as one of the clubs are interested in the player, with the outlet pointing out the Red Devils ‘have already shown interest’ in signing the 22-year-old.

Benfica haven’t received any satisfactory bids so far. They want at least €100m, or something close to that in an initial payment, plus bonuses for easy objectives.

It’s interesting that last week, the very same newspaper reported Manchester United’s €105m bid for the player, claiming that consisted of €75m initially, €20m in bonuses and the loan of a €10m player.

So either they learned the first report was not true, or they’re just piling up any information they receive about the case.
