The Jordan James saga refuses to go away, as Gazzetta dello Sport bring the latest on Atalanta’s interest in the Birmingham City midfielder on Wednesday.
The crux of the story is the same, but there are some updates, as the Blues continue to ask €10m for their star, which is an amount the Serie A side are unwilling to pay.
What has changed is that Atalanta are willing to go all the way up to €6-7m for the player, who has ‘less than 48 hours’ to convince Birmingham to let him go.
The fact the Italians first started their courting early on in the January is said to have attracted the interest of other clubs, which is currently ‘encouraging’ the Championship side to postpone any sale until June.
The belief is Atalanta ‘can reach €6-7m’ in January for the midfielder, but will not meet the €10m Birmingham want.The Blues are refusing to budge from that for the time being, and unless Jordan James himself starts pressuring his club to let him go, as he is ‘enthusiastic’ about moving to Italy, then this could be a standoff the Midlands club win.
In short, Atalanta need Birmingham to ‘review their rigid position’ with a little help from the 19-year-old.
