Besiktas have issued another statement over the future of their captain Oguzhan Ozyakup after claims in the Turkish media he’s rejected their latest contract offer.

Everton are said to be closing in on the Turkey international after reports they will meet his salary demands.

Today there have been reports Ozyakup has told the Besiktas board he can’t sign his contract renewal following reports he’s been offered €1.8m a season.

According to reports today in the Turkish press this has caused panic at Besiktas, but the Turkish champions have been quick to play this down: ‘Some newspapers and internet sites published the “Besiktas Oguzhan Ozyakup Crisis” but the reports do not reflect the truth.’

‘There is no crisis between our club and captain Oguzhan Ozyakup. We strongly urge our fans and the public not to give credit to such news.’

This is the second time in just over a week that Besiktas have issued such a statement, but with reports Everton are looking to offer the 25 year old a contact this must be a concern to the Turkish club.

Earlier this week it was claimed Everton will be prepared to offer the €2.5m a season the player is seeking, with talks ongoing between the Premier League club and his agent.
