Eintracht Frankfurt ‘internally assume’ that Leeds United loanee Robin Koch will remain with them after the end of the season.

That’s according to BILD, who say the German club are confident the defender will stay where he is once his loan deal from Leeds comes to an end.

Koch joined them on loan in the summer transfer window, taking advantage of a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave after relegation from the Premier League.

The defender’s future remains somewhat complicated, though, as his contract with Leeds expires at the end of the season and he is free to negotiate with clubs around Europe about a pre-contract agreement from January 1st.

All indications are that he will sign a permanent deal with Eintracht, particularly after reports in the summer stated they had paid for the loan deal with Leeds to try and ensure as much.

Several reports from Germany since then have made it clear that the club are confident of keeping the player, who has established himself as a key man in the heart of their defence this season.

BILD back that up today, stating that Koch is considered a ‘permanent member’ of the Eintracht family as he loves the fans, and they love him.

The club ‘internally assume’ that Koch will stay after the end of the season, when his contract with Leeds comes to an end and he is available on a free transfer.

In the meantime, the focus for both parties is for him to continue his fine performances and continue to prove himself after struggles at Elland Road.

That plan could be halted by a recent injury, with the defender scheduled for an MRI scan on a foot injury that has forced him to train alone with a rehabilitation trainer and only do ‘loose exercises’.

The hope is that he won’t be out long-term and miss out on a call-up to the Germany squad, which would both be the first negatives of an otherwise hugely positive return to the Bundesliga so far.
