In the final week of the summer transfer window, Crystal Palace made an attempt to sign Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain on loan with a compulsory option to buy.
However, the French side wanted the striker to be a part of the deal for Randal Kolo Muani at the time, which is why the offer from the Eagles was turned down.
Ekitike, down his end, refused to go to Frankfurt, and has since been sidelined entirely by Paris Saint-Germain, with Le Parisien covering his current situation in depth.
The newspaper state the player, who actually wanted to go to Crystal Palace at the time, is biding his time, compensating the lack of game time with a program put together by personal trainer.
He has decided to just take his situation as it is, and wait for an opportunity to leave down the line, as Le Parisien explain that ‘an exit door will be opened’ for Ekitike in the January transfer window.
However, the forward doesn’t want to sign ‘just anywhere’, which is why he previously refused loan offers from Adana Demirspor and Zenith St-Petersburg, which were accepted by Paris Saint-Germain but not the player.
That’s when the outlet recall the ‘irony’ that Nasser Al-Khelaifi had ‘placed a veto’ on the move to Crystal Palace just a ‘few days before’.
Therefore, if the Eagles are still interested, and there should be no reason why they wouldn’t be, they will get a second chance at signing the young forward in the next transfer window.
