Portuguese champions Sporting are interested in the signing of Manchester City winger Lukas Nmecha, according to reports today.

Newspaper A Bola says the 22-year-old is ‘referenced’ by the Lions, as he fits the profile of new players who the Lisbon side are looking for this summer.

Following a loan spell at Anderlecht, Nmecha now enters the final year of his contract with the Premier League side, and the story points out that Sporting and Manchester City have a ‘privileged relationship’ which could help them with transfers.

And it turns out Nmecha isn’t the only player from the English side who the Lions are interested in, since Yangel Herrera has recently been reported as a target as well.

A Bola says that in Herrera’s case, he would arrive to Lisbon on a loan deal. That’s probably their way of saying Nmecha would move on a permanent transfer, even though that isn’t made clear in the story.

Since Manchester City have recently been linked to Sporting fullback Nuno Mendes, A Bola points out that this could help the Lions to get the players they’re interested in.

It’s said Pep Guardiola’s side have €60m ‘saved’ to sign the Lions’ wonderkid, and the clubs could end up using their good relationship to get all the deals done.
