Tottenham will have to pay €60m this summer if they wish to sign Sporting star Palhinha.

That’s according to A Bola, who say Sporting chief Frederico Varandas has ‘banged the table’ and made it clear his prized asset will not be going on the cheap.

Recent reports have indicated that Palhinha could be available for €30m in this window, a fact that had not gone unnoticed by the likes of Tottenham and Atlético Madrid.

Both were said to be keen, but Varandas is not going to back down and has insisted that Palhinha will only go if a club offers his release clause of €60m.

Varandas is aware of the interest, but he knows that the midfielder is key to Rúben Amorim’s team and plans moving forwards.

He’s planning to take ‘internal measures’ which will reward the footballer after an impressive season.

The plan is to ‘substantially’ improve his contract, which already expires in 2025, and make him one of the top earners at the club.

Varandas’ decision has been totally supported by the rest of the board, who have already made dealing with the contract a ‘priority’.

The plan is for the club to put an end to the speculation and tempt the likes of Tottenham to look elsewhere, or if not, spend €60m and boost the coffers considerably.
