Portuguese newspaper Record features a piece today explaining how Benfica are managing to anticipate some resources so they can have a more comfortable year in financial terms.
The Eagles are working with a bank in order to receive the total amount of some transfers which are still being paid through the years.
One of these moves is said to be the one of Raúl Jiménez, who signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers on a loan in 2018 and permanently in 2019, as the payment for his move is still being done.
Record reports that Benfica had to find a new deal with Wolves, who needed to sign a document authorising the Eagles to anticipate the money from the bank, as long as the Lisbon side take responsibility for the interest and taxes.
This deal, however, shouldn’t change a thing in Wolves’ payment for Jiménez. Record explains that besides the €3m for his loan, the striker moved permanently on a €38m deal, and that amount is being split ‘for many years’.Despite the many sales Benfica made in the past few years, including Ruben Dias’ move to Manchester City last summer, the only amounts being anticipated are those of Raúl Jiménez from Wolves and Raul de Tomas to Espanyol.
That probably indicates a good relationship between these clubs, which is often mentioned in the transfer market as something that could make future moves a lot easier.
