Two days ago, Mundo Deportivo reported Juan Foyth’s agent has offered him to Valencia, Villarreal and Real Sociedad, and Los Ches were leading the race for the Tottenham Hotspur defender.
Another report from the same newspaper today details the new development and explains the defender is now close to joining Unai Emery’s side.
They state the Yellow Submarine ‘advance in the hiring’ of the 22-year-old and Châteauroux forward Haissem Hassan.
Despite the interest from Valencia, Mundo reports the Argentina international is set to join Villlarreal on a season-long loan deal and they retain an option to make his transfer permanent.
AS also explains the negotiations between Villarreal and the north London club have progressed well and they are ‘close to closing’ the transfer of the Spurs player.
One of the fringes that needs to be decided is whether or not to include a purchase option as part of the deal.
Valencia and Sociedad also showed interest in Foyth, but Villarreal had an advantage because they were the first club to make contact and showed ‘serious interest’ in signing him.
The South American has not entered José Mourinho’s plans at Tottenham and a loan move to Villarreal would improve Foyth’s chances of playing regularly this season.
