Turkish website Fotospor claim Besiktas have rejected the chance to sign Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian

Fotospor say the Manchester United player has been offered to Besiktas by an agent, along with Atletico Madrid’s Juanfran.

However, Besiktas president Fikret Orman has rejected the chance to sign either defender because both are cup-tied for the Champions League.

The Turkish side want to bring in an experienced right back after being drawn against Bayern Munich in the knockout stages, and it seems they’ll have to look at other options.

It’s claimed the Besiktas board entertained the idea of signing Darmian from Manchester United, but they’ve been put off because he wouldn’t be able to play against Bayern Munich.

The 28 year old has played just nine games for Manchester United in all competitions this season, with three of those coming in the Champions League.

Antonio Valencia has been Jose Mourinho’s first choice right back this season, and subsequently some of Darmian’s appearances have come at left back.
