Over the past few days, the idea that Manchester United could make a summer move for Victor Osimhen has started to grow.
On paper, it makes sense, because Edinson Cavani is likely to leave on a free, while Cristiano Ronaldo, as good as he still is, is entering the back end of his career.
A long-term option will be needed, and the Napoli striker, who has scored 21 goals in 52 appearances for the Serie A side since joining them, has all the attributes to shine in the Premier League.
That being said, signing him would be expensive, since Aurelio De Laurentiis will want to make a profit on the £67.5m he initially spent on the 23-year-old in September 2020, and fees of €100m have already been talked about.
Relayed by FC Inter 1908, he said: “It’s true. Napoli have enquired about Gianluca Scamacca, and according to our reconstructions, it would be an attempt linked to a possible pharaonic proposal for Victor Osimhen next summer. The proposal could be that of Manchester United.
“The voices of recent days are coupled with what his brother declared some time ago when he spoke of a courtship from the Red Devils, returned to sender because there was another Nigerian there at the time (Odion Ighalo) and Osimhen didn’t want to compete.”
