VfB Stuttgart have lined up a move for defender Leonidas Stergiou as a replacement for Konstantinos Mavropanos as he nears a move to West Ham United.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says Mavropanos’ ‘likely’ move to West Ham is already being accounted for by the German side.

The Hammers have seemingly moved for Mavropanos after missing out on a deal for Harry Maguire, who had looked set for a move from Manchester United before turning down the potential switch.

A deal for the Greek centre-back has been rapidly progressing, with it reported yesterday that they are already preparing an offer after already striking an agreement with the defender.

Reports since have indicated that Stuttgart are already eyeing up potential replacements, with Crystal Palace’s Chris Richards named as a target earlier today.

It seems Stergiou can now be added to the list of replacements, with Tavolieri reporting that Stuttgart have targeted the defender in light of ‘the likely departure’ of Mavropanos to West Ham.

The indication is that the Hammers are close to getting a deal over the line and his current club are already planning for life without him.
