We tried to ignore it because the original story was from some random German website with English articles, but it’s time to clear things up regarding Thorgan Hazard and this so called transfer to Liverpool.
First of all, there is no release clause in his contract, as DH explained on Monday, but, furthermore, Eden Hazard’s brother isn’t particularly interested in a move to Anfield.
This is what Belgian journalist Jonathan Lange explained on Le Grand Debrief on Monday evening when asked if the rumours sending the Belgian to Liverpool should be believed.
He said: “No. It’s not topical. His future will be sorted in January. We know his contract is slowly reaching its end, much like his brother’s, there’s 18 months left. There are talks set for January between Borussia Mönchengladbach’s director of football Max Eberl and Thorgan’s dad Thierry, who deals with everything.
“They want to renew his deal in Gladbach, and Thorgan feels very good there too, not just because they’re doing well this year, but also for family reasons.”
So, that’s pretty clear, and this story always seemed like something that needed to be ignored.
Unfortunately, ignoring is not how you make money, meaning it spread like wildfire across the English media because it was something new and potentially exciting, since Thorgan Hazard has scored 11 goals and picked up seven assists in 18 games across all competitions.
