Earlier on Thursday, we covered an article from Gazzetta dello Sport looking at the situation surrounding Kalidou Koulibaly at Chelsea.

The defender appears to be out of Mauricio Pochettino’s plans at Stamford Bridge, and that’s why there was hope from Inter Milan’s end that a deal could be struck.

However, it was made clear that Chelsea didn’t want to loan out the centre-back, clearly preferring a solution that would see the player leave permanently so they can recoup some money, and there are some who believe that can happen, such as Giovanni Scotto, a journalist for Il Roma, relayed by Il Napoli Online.

Speaking on social media, he firmly believes the former Napoli star will not be in Pochettino’s squad when the season starts.

He said Koulibaly ‘will leave’ Chelsea this summer, as Pochettino wants ‘to focus on younger profiles’, and despite the Senegal international being held back by his wages, something could get done.

That’s because the defender ‘will lower his economic demands’ to ensure he can get a transfer away from Stamford Bridge if that is the only solution left for him, with Inter and Juventus reportedly enquiring about him.

If Gazzetta’s report from earlier is anything to go by, he will need to be pushed, but the belief from Scotto is that an exit is on the cards either way.
