Raúl Jiménez last made an appearance for Wolverhampton Wanderers in their goalless draw against AFC Bournemouth towards the end of August.

The Mexico international has been sidelined since then with an injury and is currently in his home country, working on regaining full fitness.

There have been concerns over the Wolves striker’s availability to represent El Tri at the World Cup next month.

On October 14th, reports indicated the ex-Benfica man is expected to be fit for the FIFA tournament in Qatar, after he provided a positive update on his recovery.

Mexico chief Jaime Ordiales provided updates on a few national team players outside the Miguel Hidalgo International Airport in Guadalajara. He is hoping that Jiménez recovers in time to make it to the World Cup squad.

“He is being treated with the medical body. Let’s hope Raúl recovers as soon as possible and well. In the case of Corona, follow your process. Let’s hope to God he’s okay too,” AS in Mexico quoted Ordiales as saying.

“I think God willing he will get ahead (Raúl), he is doing his job, he is doing well, he had two weeks to continue the process that had already been marked for him in England. Let’s hope that this treatment is bearing fruit and that he is well.”

Ordiales has been in contact with the Wolves star and added that Mexico manager Gerardo Martino will wait until the last minute for the frontman.

“I spoke with him the day before yesterday, he is happy, he is calm, he says that he is doing well, that he feels good and he has faith that he will recover well,” Ordiales explained.

“That is the idea of Gerardo, hold it until the end. I think he is a very important player, as everyone is important for the national team.”
