Eden Hazard’s Chelsea future has been one of the main talking points of the transfer rumour mill recently, as the 27-year-old nears entering the final year of his current contract.
The Belgium international has hardly helped shut down speculation of an exit by expressing multiple times a desire to one day play for Real Madrid, the club of his dreams.
It doesn’t seem like Hazard would force a transfer away from Stamford Bridge, as he’s said he’d be happy if he stayed too, and that could soon be the case, if Gazzetta dello Sport are to be believed.
According to the Italian newspaper, the forward seems ‘ready to accept’ the Blues’ latest offer, which is said to be worth around €18m/year, and that’s after tax.
The information is thrown in an article where Gazzetta discuss the contractual situations of all the big European players whose deals are nearing their end, so it’s not like they’re breaking a huge exclusive and dedicating a whole page to it.
There’s also no mention of the length of the deal, which is strange.
Choose to believe it if you want, but that Gazzetta dello Sport, an Italian newspaper, would be the first to get the information of Hazard signing a new deal at Chelsea seems a bit odd.
We’re not saying it’s impossible, but it’s definitely not where we expected it to come from, if that’s the case.
