As reported by the Brazilian, the English and the French media today, Chelsea decided to loan Andrey Santos out again.

The midfielder is set to join Strasbourg on a loan deal, thanks to the BlueCo affiliation, staying at the Ligue 1 side until the end of the season.

L’Equipe is one of the outlets covering this transfer, and they actually have something interesting to say about that.

They point out that Chelsea brought the player back from Nottingham Forest because he wasn’t getting enough playing time, and things may not be that different in France.

It’s made clear that Strasbourg are well covered in their midfield, as Patrick Vieira has the ‘most effective part’ of his squad playing in that sector.

Plus there’s the fact that Santos is currently out with Brazil’s pre-Olympic team, and won’t be able to get to France anytime soon.

That means the player still needs to adapt to his new club and then win a place in their starting team, which doesn’t appear to be an easy task.

Still, there will be few months to do that, and Chelsea will be hoping he’s up for the challenge or this could all quickly backfire.
