Since Enzo Fernandez was announced by Chelsea, the Portuguese media has been making it clear that he had been pushing hard for that move to happen.

Earlier this week, we saw claims that the player even ‘threatened not to play anymore and return to Argentina’ in case Benfica didn’t let him make the transfer.

It turns out he actually did more, at least according to what is said by Portuguese newspaper Record today.

That took place in the final day of negotiations between the Eagles and Chelsea.

It’s claimed that Enzo ‘threatened to record’ a video with accusations towards Benfica and ‘post it on social media’.

Record also reveal that the talks between Rui Costa, Todd Boehly and Jorge Mendes had been pretty tense, especially at the start of the month, when Chelsea gave up on their €127m offer.

It’s said that despite reports of nearly physical confrontations, that did not actually happen, but the Benfica president did get ‘furious’ with the Blues’ actions and left the room.

The negotiations dragged on for a month, until Benfica realised they couldn’t hold Enzo. Chelsea were fine in waiting for the summer to take him, but the player did everything to get the move done in January, and achieved that.
