On Thursday morning, Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte featured a story claiming Chelsea are one of the ‘candidates’ to sign Corinthians youngster Gabriel Moscardo.

It’s claimed that with the 17-year-old standing out this year, the Blues became one of the ‘first candidates’ to bring him to Europe.

It turns out that as UOL now feature an update on this situation, they claim Chelsea and Corinthians have already advanced talks for the move.

The outlet claims there’s an ongoing negotiation and the transfer could be done soon.

Chelsea are reportedly offering €21m plus €4m in bonuses. That’d be a record sale for Corinthians, who’d also keep 10% of a future sale.

Since Moscardo turns 18 in September, he’d only move to Europe in the winter window. That certainly made the negotiations easier, as the Brazilian club are in a crucial part of the season and would be able to count on him until the end of it, in December.

UOL say the likes of Barcelona and Nottingham Forest had also been interested in Moscardo, but it’s really Chelsea who are close to the signing.
