Despite Roméo Lavia very much wanting to sign for Liverpool, it appears the Southampton player will be leaving for Chelsea instead.

That’s according to Sacha Tavolieri, who took to Twitter to reveal the news, claiming the Blues are the ones ‘set to win the race’ for the midfielder.

In fact, the Belgian midfielder is already ‘seeking an apartment’ in London with his entourage, showing just how close a deal sending him to Chelsea is.

It’s added that the Blues offered him the ‘longest contract and biggest wages’ compared to what Liverpool put on the table, with both sides ready to pay Southampton want they want for the player.

While there are still some details to come out regarding the player’s move to Chelsea, Tavolieri makes it clear we are all ‘almost at the end of the race’, meaning Mauricio Pochettino could end up with both Moises Caicedo and Lavia while Liverpool have to look elsewhere.

This is likely to come as a huge blow for Jürgen Klopp, who seemed nearly convinced he had his hands on the Ecuadorian, and then the Belgian, only for league rivals to end up with both, especially when taking into account they have no European football to offer.
