Even though Chelsea loanee Tiemoue Bakayoko is loaned to AC Milan in 2023, it seems the terms of that agreement are now being reconsidered by the Italian side.

Newspaper Corriere Dello Sport today writes that the player’s future with the Rossoneri is now ‘in the balance’, as he hasn’t been able to meet the expectations around him.

Despite Bakayoko’s good spell at Milan a few years ago when Genaro Gattuso was in charge, it’s said he’s now ‘nowhere near the levels’ he once was, and that means ‘the loan deadlines may not necessarily be met’.

So with Milan now disappointed with the midfielder’s spell, it looks like they may speak to Chelsea about his return to London, giving the Blues a new headache for the next summer.

Chelsea haven’t really used Bakayoko since 2018.

Back then he’d been loaned to Milan, and then had other spells at Monaco and Napoli until returning to the Rossoneri last summer.

The agreement with the Serie A giants includes a buying option depending on performance bonuses, but as things stand, it looks more likely he’d return to Chelsea, either now or in 2023.
