Chelsea fans, you will be forgiven if you had forgotten that Tiemoué Bakayoko is still contracted to the Stamford Bridge side.

Sent on loan to Milan for two years last season, the French midfielder never managed to make a space for himself in Stefano Pioli’s side, and has remained a backup for a big part of his spell there.

There was talk that he could return to Chelsea over the summer, with the Serie A side keen to cut the deal short, but that never happened, so Bakayoko stayed.

Now, as we head into the World Cup break ahead of the January transfer window, the stories of the loan being terminated early are starting to resurface.

The latest to comment on it are Calciomercato, who write a short article claiming that the Chelsea player’s agents are ‘finding a solution for January on the market’.

If you weren’t sure how Bakayoko’s loan is going, we’ll tell you right now: he has yet to step foot on a football pitch this season.

He has been on the Milan bench in all but one of the Serie A club’s games in the league, but hasn’t come on once, which is certainly something Chelsea won’t be happy about.

It’s worth reminding everyone that the Blues initially paid AS Monaco €40m for his transfer back in 2017.
