Manchester United are ‘definitely showing interest’ in Kinglsey Coman this summer but could now face competition from Chelsea.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who say Bayern have set a €100m price-tag on the Frenchman’s head to stop a deal from happening.
The website explains that Bayern are currently locked in contract negotiations with Coman to extend his stay at the club, but those are proving to be ‘difficult’.
Thus, the German champions have come up with a new tactic to get the player to sign the deal they want.
It will therefore act as a ‘deterrent’ for interested parties such as Chelsea and Manchester United and give Bayern more time for ‘wounds’ from the recent talks to heal and new negotiations to start.
The Germans are in no rush for a new deal to be signed, given Coman is locked into his current contract until 2023, so they have time on their hands.
The player is asking for €16-17m a year, a price that is far too much as far as Bayern are concerned.
That is why Coman’s representative Pini Zahavi, a ‘notorious’ agent, is working on alternatives and has a ‘mandate’ to look at offers from England.
That’s where Chelsea and Manchester United come into it, with FT stating that they are ‘definitely showing interest’ in the Frenchman.
Nothing is ‘concrete’ at this moment in time, though, particularly after Bayern set their €100m asking price on his head.
