With French outlet L’Equipe this week writing that Paris Saint Germain are also interested in the signing of Benfica star Darwin Nunez, the Portuguese media is today full of stories about the striker’s chances of moving to the Parc Des Princes this summer.
But it turns out that in those reports, we also see something different regarding the chase from Premier Leagues club for the player, and that’s the inclusion of Chelsea.
Newspaper Correio da Manhã today features a story based on French reports and then adds a little of information, claiming agent Jorge Mendes now expects to move Darwin for something close to his €150m release clause.
And when speaking of English sides who want him, Chelsea are now mentioned as one of the sides who ‘have already probed’ Benfica to know the conditions for a deal.
Even though the story adds other Premier League sides such as Manchester United, Newcastle United and Liverpool, these are names we got used to seeing when reading about the race for Nunez, while Chelsea aren’t put in that list of contenders that often.
The truth is that the race for the striker is only getting bigger, as he now edges towards the end of the season with 34 goals scored for the Eagles this season.
