Jules Kounde’s situation has turned into a soap opera, with Barcelona trying to snatch the defender from Chelsea’s clutches.

There’s various takes on the situation in Monday’s Spanish media, and we’ll start with the newspapers closest to Sevilla.

ABC Sevilla report Kounde’s club and Chelsea ‘continue to negotiate’ for the transfer. Barcelona want the player, but it’s stated they still haven’t contacted Sevilla or placed an offer.

Despite claims on Sunday that the two clubs have reached an agreement, ABC Sevilla say they contacted their local club and were told there’s ‘nothing’.

As things stood on Sunday evening, there’d been no approach.

Diario de Sevilla say similar, and state: ‘What is happening with Kounde should be studied in the faculties of Information Sciences.’

They explain Barcelona seem to be playing a game via their local media, without yet picking up the phone and actually speaking to Sevilla. Chelsea continue to be in the picture, and there’s growing confusion about what Barca are playing at.

Sport, a Catalan newspaper, say Barcelona and Sevilla are on the verge of an agreement.

Mundo Deportivo, also a Catalan newspaper, report the transfer is in the ‘final stretch’.

It claims like these which have, as far as the Sevilla media is concerned, left Kounde’s current club a little dumbfounded.
