Following the initial reports from the Italian media about Napoli’s interest in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, outlet Calcio Mercato now features an update on this situation.

The website brings a piece claiming the Serie A side have ‘initiated contacts’ with Spurs for the transfer.

The problem, as things stand, is that Tottenham are interested in selling Lo Celso, while Napoli would rather sign him on loan with an option to buy.

The Italian attempt would involve ‘lower figures’, both regarding the part of his salary they would pay, as well as the amount for the permanent deal.

That’s why Tottenham don’t seem very much on board with the operation, even though Lo Celso is said to be keen on the move.

Calcio Mercato writes a ‘concrete acceleration’ could take soon, but only in case Napoli believe that would be done ‘under the right conditions’.

On Monday morning, it was claimed Tottenham want €25m for the sale, and the Serie A side only wanted to pay €15m. That’s a big gap to get to fill, especially in case they fight for the buying option.
