Palermo have turned their attentions to Norwich City forward Kyle Lafferty, according to claims in the Italian media. The Northern Ireland international has been linked with a move to Cardiff City with repots in the past 24 hours he was close to joining the Championship side.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed Palermo are again keen on Lafferty as they continue to their effort to bring in a forward before the transfer window closes. Former AC Milan star Alberto Gilardino left Palermo at the end of last season, and since then the Sicilian side have been keen to bring in an experienced forward to fill this void.

Palermo were linked with Liverpool’s Mario Balotelli, but with the Italy international on the verge of a loan move to Nice, they’ve turned their attention to Lafferty. The Norwich City forward had a brief spell with Palermo a few years ago, and they were linked with the player in the last transfer window.

This will come as a blow to Cardiff City who have been in talks with Lafferty in recent days, according to Sky Sports. Federico Macheda has left Cardiff City by mutual consent, and Lafferty is being lined up to replace him. Lafferty has been frozen out at Norwich City, and needs to find a club who can give him more playing time.
