It’s well known that things hadn’t been great at Napoli long before Carlo Ancelotti’s departure. The club never found good form this season, and are currently in a position where they wouldn’t even get a place in the Europa League.

well known Italian journalist Maurizio De Giovanni has been interviewed by Marte Sport Live this Monday, and made some heavy criticism about the club’s situation this season.

And when asked about Carlo Ancelotti’s farewell, he teased a little, wondering if his time away from Napoli would have been enough for him to find an agreement with Everton, as if the manager could’ve been in negotiations with the Toffees before leaving the club.

“Carlo Ancelotti at Everton? You still can’t give in to Santa Claus: it’s very complicated for me to think that such an expensive contract could have been agreed a few days after the sacking,” said De Giovanni (via Area Napoli).

Carlo Ancelotti’s presentation at Everton today obviously got huge coverage from the Italian media.

There haven’t been much room for transfer rumours so far, as local newspapers have only been recycling the stories about Kalidou Koulibaly and Piotr Zielinski.
