Following his first five appearances for Tottenham Hotspur, newcomer Rodrigo Bentancur picked up an injury in the Premier League clash against Burnley on the 23rd of February.

That’s why the midfielder ended up missing Spurs’ last two games, against Leeds United and Middlesbrough, and is now working to be back with Antonio Conte’s side as soon as possible.

Now since there’s some concern in Uruguay, where they want him available for the upcoming fixtures of the World Cup qualifiers, the local media went after some information and got good news about Bentancur’s recovery.

Radio Uruguay’s show Derechos Exclusivos managed to speak to ‘professor’ Daniel Fernandez, who follows the Tottenham player since his early days, and got to know that the player could be in action for Spurs against Everton.

“He’s a player who quickly recovers from injuries. They were monitoring him at the club, he did physiotherapy and additional work and luckily he’s very well. He’s done strength work, change of direction and work with the ball,” said Fernandez (via Ovacion).

“They wanted to call him up for the FA Cup (last Tuesday), by mutual agreement he did not travel, but he can be there on Monday.

“We’ve even done double sessions and he’s hopeful to be ready, and ready for qualifiers soon.”

Uruguay have the last games of the World Cup qualifiers in the final week of March. Currently in fourth place, they face Peru and Chile, who are exactly the two sides who try to steal that last position which takes them straight to the tournament.
