On the verge of losing Moises Caicedo to Chelsea after a £115m bid was made, Brighton & Hove Albion, ready as always, are seemingly working on his replacement.

That man is Carlos Baleba, currently at Lille, who has little experience in the top flight, but for whom the Ligue 1 side had big plans.

That’s why a hefty transfer fee is being discussed, as revealed by Fabrice Hawkins on Monday for RMC Sport on Twitter.

The journalist explains that Brighton and Lille are ‘negotiating’ the amount for the young midfielder’s transfer, with the French club wanting ‘around €30m’ for their starlet.

However, as tends to be the case, it could be done for lower, and it’s believed an agreement could end up being reached ‘between €20-30m’.

Down the player’s end, and as has been reported elsewhere, the player and Brighton have already found an agreement, meaning he is simply waiting for the two clubs to shake hands so the move can get done.

There has been a lot of hype surrounding Baleba in France after his promising outings last season, and this could be another Brighton masterclass in the transfer window if he does reach the potential he appears to be showing.
