Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Ryerson has ended up on the transfer agenda of Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa, according to a report from Germany.

The fullback has been a regular under Edin Terzić when available for selection and has made 24 appearances this season, managing four goals and an assist in the process. He even scored in BVB’s 2-0 win over Bayern Munich last weekend.

Ryerson’s performances have caught both Brighton and Aston Villa attention as Sky Deutschland state the 26-year-old is being courted by the two English clubs.

The defender, who can operate as both a right and left-back, has long been on the Premier League sides’ radar. It’s further claimed Brighton and the Villans have ‘already expressed’ their interest in the Norway international, so contact has been made.

Dortmund signed the player from Union Berlin in January 2023 and handed him a contract until 2026. The report states he collects €3m per year and is one of the lowest earners at the German club.

Sky add Ryerson could be in line for an improved deal but there’s been no concrete talks so far since BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl’s future remains uncertain.

It’s possible that both Brighton and Aston Villa are dragged into the mix to put pressure on Dortmund, to help the Norwegian land an improved deal.
