Back in the summer window, AFC Bournemouth reportedly reached a deal with Fiorentina for the transfer of Gaetano Castrovilli.
The Cherries were supposed to spend €12m on the signing, but the move never happened, apparently because the midfielder had issues with the medical.
It turns out that outlet Fiorentina Uno today brings quotes from journalist Stefano Cecchi that may show another reason why Bournemouth didn’t sign Castrovilli.
Speaking to Radio Bruno, the pundit claimed that the player himself was not that keen on leaving the Serie A side at that point.
“As far as I know, the boy had expressed the desire to stay in Florence. The management, however, had doubts about it. In addition, Gaetano recently became a father and his son was born here. All the more reason why he would have wanted to stay,” said Stefano Cecchi.
A strange aspect is that there hadn’t been many links between Bournemouth and the midfielder during the summer window, and once it was reported, the Italian media came up with claims of a deal, a medical and contract signature.
With the clubs not officially confirming what happened, the new slant could be what actually blocked a move.
