Bournemouth are showing interest in Malmö youngster Hugo Larsson but could face competition from Ajax for him.

That’s according to Fotboll Direkt and journalist Ola Gustavsson, who says Bournemouth have been interested since the January transfer window.

He explains that 18-year-old Larsson has earned himself attention for his performances with Malmö this season, having played 21 times in all competitions so far, including in the Europa League and Champions League qualifying.

He’s only managed two assists to date, and it seems he is earning plenty of interest, with Gustavsson saying Bournemouth and Ajax are keen on him.

According to his information Bournemouth were mentioned as suitors during the January transfer window, with sums of 100m kroner, around £7.5m, mentioned.

Gary O’Neill’s side are ‘far from alone’ in showing an interest in Larsson, though, with Ajax also scouting him through their Scandinavian scout Michael Eriksen. He has put his name down ‘seriously’ as a target.

That price tag of SEK 100m is not a figure that would make them back down, although it’s not mentioned how Bournemouth feel about that amount.

Either way, they’re reportedly interested and have been for a while, but may need to move quickly to secure his signature with Ajax hovering.
