On deadline day, Tottenham Hotspur allowed Japhet Tanganga to join FC Augsburg on a loan deal.

The Bundesliga side have conceded nine goals from three league games and the 24-year-old, along with another new signing, Kevin Mbabu [on loan from Fulham] is tasked with helping them stop the leakages.

Wednesday’s Wertinger Zeitung has a report on the Tottenham owned player and Mbabu, and they suggest the duo are considered as hopefuls to ‘stabilise’ Augsburg’s defence.

The newspaper adds the German club’s sporting director, Marinko Jurendic, has requested for a ‘little patience’ with Tanganga since his experience so far isn’t enough to ‘get started’ immediately. Since making his first team debut in 2019, he has made 50 appearances for Spurs.

Over at Augsburger Allgemeine, they state the Tottenham defender is struggling with a knee injury.

Tanganga and Mbabu, like other Augsburg players, have been riding bicycles from the dressing room to the training ground.

It’s claimed the duo struggled to park their bicycle without causing an ‘accident’, as they ‘tipped over’, which resulted in a domino effect and all the bikes landing on the ground.

Funny, but hopefully not a sign of things to come.

Augsburger Allgemeine say Tanganga will miss the friendly against SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Thursday due to a knee injury and is expected to start full contact training next week, ‘if everything goes well’.

The Tottenham owned defender clearly has pressure on him to help Augsburg improve their back line.
