With many claims from both England and Germany that Jadon Sancho’s transfer to Manchester United is edging closer, a transfer seems relatively imminent.

There appears to be a few details left to sort out between the Red Devils and their Bundesliga counterparts, but the general consensus is that a deal will be agreed and the England international will finally return to his home country.

Currently with the national team at the Euros, Sancho has barely been used by Gareth Southgate, who could unleash the Borussia Dortmund star in the knockout stages to provide a stale attack with much needed impetus.

In the meantime, Manchester United are trying to get him to Old Trafford before the season starts, finally gifting Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a player he has been after for some time to bolster his right wing.

Unlike last summer, Sancho isn’t coming off the back of an outstanding season, and Ruhr Nachrichten have a look at what the past 12 months was like for the winger.

An improved second half of the campaign helped boost his stats to 16 goals and 20 assists in 38 games in all competitions, including two goals and an assist in the DfB Pokal final against RB Leipzig, and it’s this great form the local outlet believe Dortmund will miss the most.

Seemingly resigning themselves to the fact the forward will move to Manchester United, Ruhr Nachrichten state ‘this time it actually looks like he will soon be able to make his return to the island’.

And ‘despite a high transfer fee, a Sancho exit would be a bitter sporting loss for Borussia Dortmund’.
