Ander Iturraspe has been able to sign as a free agent for some months, at least on a pre-contract agreement.

There’s been several links with Leeds United, but as it stands the player hasn’t agreed a deal with anyone and is currently still ‘enjoying his holidays’, according to AS on Sunday.

Leeds United being a possibility is mentioned once again, with Marcelo Bielsa ‘aware of his qualities’ since the time the pair were together at Athletic Club Bilbao.

Should the Championship club move for the midfielder then they’ll face competition from Getafe, PAOK and other unnamed clubs in Greece and Israel.

Iturraspe doesn’t appear to be in a rush to pick his next destination, perhaps enjoying some extra time off rather than rushing into preseason training with a new club.

The 30 year old needs to kickstart his career and Leeds and others would have to be sure he genuinely has the desire to really go for it, and isn’t just looking for a nice, calm, low pressure opportunity.
