Julian Nagelsmann’s chances of getting the Chelsea job are ‘relatively high’ as he is scheduled to meet with the Blues hierarchy next week.

That’s according to journalists Max Schrader and podcaster Kilian Gaffrey, who have covered the German’s imminent interview at Stamford Bridge today.

Nagelsmann is believed to be among the leading candidates for the Chelsea job, with Todd Boehly and co currently on the hunt for Graham Potter’s long-term replacement.

They have installed Frank Lampard until the end of the season but the belief is that he will not retain the position and instead be moved on for a bigger name.

The search for that person is ongoing, with Nagelsmann expected to be interviewed soon after Luis Enrique travelled to Stamford Bridge earlier this month.

Like the Spanish coach, the German is available on a free after being sacked by Bayern Munich earlier this year in one of the more surprise managerial movements this season.

That surprise sacking has actually done little to harm his reputation and both Schrader and Gaffrey, but particularly the latter, believe his chances of securing the Chelsea job are high.

“How are you going there? With a laptop and have a PowerPoint with you?” Gaffrey said.

“I do believe that Julian Nagelsmann’s chances of getting the job in the summer are relatively high.”

“I think you get asked a lot about your game philosophy, and you can say how you would like it to be, and so on and so forth,” added Schrader.

“I don’t think it will be a PowerPoint. It’s a completely normal conversation, I think, for three, four, five hours, and then we’ll see how it ends.”
